The O&M Consultancy Team is responsible for advising RHD (Roads and Highways Department) about any aspect which could improve the efficiency or effectiveness of the O&M Contract, or save RHD any costs, or otherwise be of benefit to RHD; and any deficiency in the performance of the O&M Contractor, in the claims for payment by the O&M Contractor or any other aspect of the operation and maintenance of the bridge facility.

The consultants are providing specialist advice regarding river training works design, maintenance, repairs, modification, performance etc. The items to be inspected involve traffic signs, road marking, security fencing etc. to more technical issues such as checking of pile caps, piers, elastometric bearings, revetments, buildings & other ancillaries, etc. The consultants are required to make regular visits to the site to assist RHD during inspection of maintenance works and ensure that the process and procedures laid down in the O&M manuals were being followed.

Monitoring the development and implementation of the agreed procedures with RHD staff against pre-defined criteria is an important aspect of the work in addition to undertaking routine inspections of the crossing to ensure use of best practice.
