Halcrow was called in to investigate and identify management solutions for an area severely affected by peat slides and debris flows in September 2003.

A specialist investigation programme was implemented to establish the causes and failure mechanisms, install monitoring systems, and identify engineering and management options to mitigate the risks of repeat events.
