Halcrow is providing expert construction supervision services to the Guizhou Expressway Development Corporation for the 130 km ChongZun Expressway Project in central China.

Approximately 16% of the project will be in tunnel, and more than 50 tunnel drives are under construction to accommodate the twin 2-lane carriageways. Major karst features are intersected by several of the tunnel drives, and coalmines occur in the vicinity of some tunnels.

Halcrow's role includes assisting the construction supervision consultants in solving technical problems arising from tunnelling in this complex geological environment, and advising on tunnel construction methods, safety, and all aspects of tunnel engineering and operation.
