In early 2006, a major rockfall occurred on the newly opened Tawaian to Dibba Highway, UAE, closing the road for over 6 months.

Halcrow was appointed to undertake an independent investigation into the causes of the landslide.

The study involved detailed site reconnaissance including geological mapping and a review of the original design. Results of the investigation were presented in a report identifying the causes of the landslide.
