| Fishing boat will support three families |
| |
|
In April 2006 a fishing boat, funded by the Halcrow Foundation, made its maiden voyage.
The family that has been given the boat have lived in a displaced persons camp in Sri Lanka since the tsunami. The camp is just south of Colombo in an area called Moratuwa.
The 21 foot-long Cey-Nor fibre glass boat has a 15 horse power Yamaha outboard and a full set of nets. This will enable fishing throughout most of the year. The boat will employ three people, supporting their families.
Construction of the boat was organised by the Community Restoration and Upliftment Foundation, which has a local presence in the area.
