Leprosy village

£6,000 was approved for the construction of a community centre for a leprosy village in Dharmapuri, Southern India. However, the project is now under review and may be altered substantially at which point a revised funding application will be needed.

Although cured of the infection, leprosy sufferers and their families still carry the marks and physical deformities which can arise from the disease. They are also ostracized from society so are unable to find jobs and are forced to beg in order to support themselves.
