Water supply and livelihood enhancement

£13,000 of Halcrow Foundation funds is being used to develop a community-based approach to effectively manage water in the Wakal River basin in the Udaipur District of Southern Rajasthan.

The project focuses on reducing the impact of droughts, which plague the region, by strengthening water storage and distribution facilities.

In the short-term the project will focus on providing access to safe drinking and irrigation water, but the longer term goal is to develop food production, providing livelihoods for local tribal populations.
