Technical description

Halcrow have been commissioned by Salcon Engineering Bhd, which has a £5.7 million contract with Jabatan Air Sabah (JAS), to assist with the reduction of physical water losses by implementing leakage management techniques and carrying out a mains replacement programme for the town.

Details

Halcrow input to the project covers a two year period with expatriate staff resident in Malaysia for the duration.

Their work involves the following tasks:

Design and set up of 20 District Meter Areas (DMA)
Building a network model to facilitate DMA design
Carrying out field tests to calibrate the model
Procurement of leakage detection equipment
Procurement of GIS and modelling software
Conversion of existing GIS data to new software
Training of JAS staff to carry on work after project completed
