Halcrow undertook in-depth studies and the design of a new marina, associated beaches and a sand bypassing system for a tourist resort in Dubai.
The Jumeira Beach Resort is located on the UAE coast, south of Dubai City. The marina designed by Halcrow forms part of a major expansion to the existing resort. The new tourist resort facilities include an island with a 70-storey hotel, a marina which has a restaurant at the end of the main breakwater, a water park and a 900-bed hotel onshore.
Halcrow was commissioned by Dutco Balfour Beatty, under a design and build contract, to undertake mathematical modelling studies and design of the new marina at the resort.
