The purpose of phase one was to rehabilitate and improve an existing irrigation scheme and to extend it from 3400 ha to 5500 ha. The objective of the scheme was accelerating agricultural development, thus increasing agricultural production, farm incomes and rural development. This involved photogrammetric mapping, design and construction of the irrigation works under contract or by force account, forest clearance and land preparation.
Technical assistance and advice has been provided for the construction of an interconnected network of all weather public and canal surface roads, and the agricultural activities.
Phase two of the project involved construct irrigation, drainage and flood protection facilities to serve 6800 ha consisting of 6200 ha of bund under rainfed cultivation and 600 ha of new land to be cleared of forest for resettlement. The scope of the services.
