A Halcrow COWI joint venture with Romproject, CIMP and Ecoterra as sub-consultants.

The overall objective of this project was to support the Romanian government in implementing an integrated multi-annual capital investment programme in order to improve the standards of municipal water and wastewater services in small and medium towns, together with improvement of operational and financial performance in this sector, in line with the national development plan and EU policies and practice.

The project was split into two phases:

Phase I
the SAMTID programme implemented in small and medium towns from five counties: Salaj-Cluj, Botosani, Alba, Calarasi and Hunedoara.
Phase II
the implementation continued in small and medium towns from another nine counties: Mures, Prahova, Suceava, Harghita, Maramures, Ialomita, Arad, Teleorman, Dambovita.
