Design for the upgrading of a local park in the Scotland's central belt. The park has an active “Friends group” and extensive community consultation was key to the success of the project.
The design approach was based on Greenspace Scotland’s placemaking principles. We have been assisting the users and the Local Council with developing their proposals integrating new facilities whilst maintaining the intrinsic character of the individual parks. Proposals were varied including footways, sports facilities, play areas, adventure playgrounds, skate parks, and developing SUDs proposals for the park addressing the acute drainage problems whilst maximising bio-diversity.
The masterplan proposals worked sensitively to restore and enhance these features whilst also allowing the parks to be rejuvenated to serve the needs of their current population.
