Transport planning

PAXPORT Melbourne

Halcrow has a strong and growing capability in multi-modal transport planning, strategy development and modelling in Australia, which our recent commissions demonstrate.

Recent commissions include:

pedestrian modelling for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne

multi-modal model development for Metropolitan Adelaide

station access mode choice model development for Sydney’s Strategic Travel Model

M4 East corridor public transport optioneering, Sydney

travel behaviour research and quantification (stated preference) in Victoria

rail ‘Clearways’ patronage forecasts for RailCorp, NSW

The potential for the transfer of skill is effectively utilised within the Halcrow Group. Our local team's skills are often drawn upon from elsewhere in Halcrow – for example, we have recently completed toll forecasts for a client in the Philippines and continue to prepare patronage forecasts for a proposed airport rail link for Vancouver, Canada. Equally, we are able to draw on transport planning expertise from elsewhere in organisation – as part of the Adelaide model development, for example, we have utilised specialist expertise from the UK to seamlessly integrate the macro and micro-simulation models.
