Introduction to Hydrology for Flood Modelling – FEH/ReFH

Overview

This one day course is aimed at those involved in undertaking, managing or reviewing Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) analyses.  No prior knowledge of the FEH is assumed and the course is presented from a practical point of view by expert Halcrow hydrologists.

This course is delivered through a series of presentations, hands-on practicals and open discussion. The course is designed to familiarise attendees with the FEH software and methods. Practical skills will be gained and by the end of the course attendees will be able to produce flood flow estimates using the statistical and rainfall-runoff (ReFH) methods. The course is continually updated to ensure recent changes to methodology and guidance are included.

Course practicals are centred around a hypothetical flood study so that by the end of the course candidates will have a good understanding of how different methods are applied, how to select an appropriate approach, how to reconcile results and how to approach non-standard catchments.

We can tailor the training to meet your specific requirements, contact us for details.
