SANDS
Overview
SANDS is a sophisticated coastal data capture, monitoring and analysis. The system provides a powerful facility through which input data can be analysed to establish links between forcing and response. It also allows weather and shore condition data to be entered, stored, inspected and compared. By analysing both climatic and beach profile data, trends in coastal response can be detected. SANDS is also capable of storing, retrieving and analysing a wide range of environmental data, reports and records.
This course is aimed at asset managers, engineers, researchers and scientists involved with the management, analysis reporting of monitored data. Typical applications include coastal monitoring, regional monitoring programmes, data acquisition and asset management. The course assumes no prior knowledge of SANDS and is presented from a practical point of view by expert Halcrow SANDS users.
The course is a generally one day session; however a longer more detailed session can be arranged. The course is delivered through a series of presentations, hands-on practicals and open discussion sessions. At the end of this course attendees should have an appreciation of SANDS capabilities and be able to undertake basic analyses.
