Duration of Course, Venue
This is a two day course held at your own office or at one of our training offices (Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, Peterborough or Swindon). The maximum number of participants per course is 8.
Background and Target Audience
iSIS has become the standard hydrodynamic modelling software used in the UK. Halcrow are jointly responsible for the development of the iSIS river modelling package and have been providing training courses in iSIS since its initial development. The course will introduce engineers, scientists and managers to the concepts of one-dimensional river modelling and provide hands-on training in the use of the iSIS software package.
The attendees will be candidates with limited or no knowledge of river modelling using iSIS software.
Course Aims
The purpose of the course is to introduce the concepts of river modelling and to provide hands-on training in the use of the iSIS software package. Practical skills will be gained and by the end of the course attendees will be able to build river models, run model simulations, view and interpret the results.
Course Format
The course comprises a mix of presentations and practical hands-on exercises. Working in pairs or small groups, attendees will use the iSIS software package to build and run models. There will be opportunities to discuss particular problems and issues during discussion points in the presentations. The course is presented from a practical point of view by engineers with extensive experience in the application of river modelling to actual projects.
Skills Gained
At the end of the course, attendees will be able to build and run iSIS river models, interpret model results, review models developed by others and understand the limitations of the models. |
